Jacksonville Fire Rescue received a call around 6:30 a.m. on September 20th about a fire at a home on Bahia Drive, which is near Atlantic Boulevard and St. Johns Bluff Road.
When firefighters arrived, they noticed the origin of the fire was different than most. They discovered a 28-year-old man who lived in the home had been intentionally set on fire and that fire spread to the garage, according to the State Fire Marshal's Office.
The investigation revealed that Wilson doused the man with an ignitable fluid and lit him on fire, according to the State Fire Marshal's Office. Investigators said Wilson knew the victim.
JFRD rescued man who was burned. Four other people were able to escape the burning house. A family puppy died in the fire.
"It was all engulfed in flames. It burned the whole thing. I don't know how much damage is inside of anything, but it was big. The whole side was engulfed," neighbor Donald Maroney told News4Jax in September.
The damage was valued at approximately $20,000. Investigators said they're still working to determine Wilson's motive.
If convicted, Wilson faces up to 30 years in prison.
