White powder sent to St. Johns County jail inert
No description foundST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A white powder substance was discovered in a letter sent to the St. Johns County jail Wednesday, the sheriff's office said.
A hazmat team was sent in to test the substance. Samples were taken and it was determined the substance was not a drug or an explosive material.
The letter was opened in the mail room, which was evacuated, deputies said. The jail is back to normal operating conditions.
The substance has been sent off for further testing, but deputies said no one who touched or came close to the substance is in any kind of danger.
