Police: Woman bites off man's fingers

An 89-year-old man was bitten at a Gainesville group home

Linda Swift is accused of biting off the fingers of a Gainesville man.

GAINESVILLE. Fla. – Gainesville police say an 89-year-old man who lived in a group home had parts of two of his fingers bitten off. They say it happened around 7:30 a.m. Saturday in the home where he lives with several other people.

Linda Kay Swift, 52, is now charged with battery. Police say Swift punched the man in the head and chest several times, unprovoked. Then, police say, she bit off the ends of two of his fingers. The man was missing part of an index finger and part of his ring finger.

Police say the man lost a significant amount of blood. Blood is visible on Swift's mug shot. She's charged with aggravated battery on a person age 65 or older.
