Putnam County man arrested in connection with road rage incident

Victim said man waved handgun at her car

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – Putnam County police have arrested a 64-year-old Putnam County man who was allegedly involved in a road rage incident involving a firearm.

Officers responded to reports of a reckless driver at County Road 309 and Orange Street in Welaka. The victim told police she was driving behind a car and the driver apparently became agitated due to traffic.

According to authorities, the suspect started gesturing towards the victim and pointed a handgun in the direction of her car. The woman had two children, ages 2 and 9, in the car.

Police found the suspect's car and identified the driver as Gary Wayne Siler. A .38 caliber handgun was found inside the car and seized.

Siler was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm. He is being held on a bond of $4,512.

While being taken to jail, Siler made derogatory and threatening statements toward the victim, according to police.
