ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – St. Johns County deputies have released a 17-year-old victim's account of two sexual encounters with his 28-year-old Nease High School teacher.
Dionne Younce, who has since been fired from the school district, is charged with two counts of sexual activity with a minor.
The former physical education teacher was booked into the St. Johns County Jail this week on $200,000 bond and was released late Friday.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the student, whose name has not been released, told deputies that he had a friendly relationship with Younce at the beginning of the school year, but that their conversations became “vulgar and graphic.”
He said he let Younce borrow suspenders for a “slutty nerd” costume, and that she sent him a picture of the outfit, which led to dirty talk on Instagram and Snapchat about what they wanted to do to each other, including oral sex and sex.
The victim told deputies he and Younce arranged to have sex on Sept. 11, and he left the Menendez vs. Nease football game at halftime to meet up with her. She drove him to her Ponte Vedra Boulevard apartment, and they watched "Fast and Furious 7" in their underwear before having oral sex and sex, according to the victim.
The student gave specific descriptive details about the layout of Younce's apartment and of items in the apartment, which matched with what detectives later found after obtaining a search warrant for the unit.
He also described two tattoos on Younce's back: Angel wings and dog paw prints.
The victim told deputies that after the encounter, Younce told him, “Make sure you keep your mouth shut if you want to continue to do this, and make sure you don't tell anybody.”
Deputies said the victim told them that at school the next Monday, Younce messaged him, asking if things were awkward. He said, “No, I still have respect for you as a teacher.” To which she responded, “You're more mature than I thought, and I knew sleeping with you would not be a bad idea,” according to the victim.
He told deputies they had sex again on Oct. 2 or Oct. 3, and that he stayed at her apartment overnight the second time.
The Sheriff's Office said it began investigating Younce on Jan. 20 after getting three or four letters from students, saying that she had an inappropriate relationship with at least one student.
Special victims' unit detectives questioned Younce, and her apartment was searched on Wednesday. Evidence gathered resulted in an arrest warrant, deputies said.
The victim's cellphone records were subpoenaed, and deputies found several texts between the victim and his friends in which the victim bragged about having sex with Younce.
Younce declined to be interviewed in the case, deputies said.
She was fired by the St. Johns County School Board earlier this month after three students said Younce messaged them and sent them text messages, beginning last fall. One of the students, whose name was not released, said Younce also Snapchatted with him. He said it was “casual," but then it turned “sexual” after a while.
"We started sending nude photos to each other, and we did that for a while -- until rumors started to break out," one student wrote.
Deputies said Younce told him not to talk about it, because she didn't want to get caught.
A day after the students gave their statements to school officials, Younce was notified by letter that the district had “elected to dismiss (her) from employment.”
The school board finalized that decision without comment as part of the consent agenda at its February meeting.
