Deputies said when the car was pulled over, the driver got out and ran, leaving a woman and several children behind.

According to deputies, the suspect, identified as Kirk Daniel Stevens, 34, first entered the woman’s shed, where he found wire cutters, pliers and a knife that allowed him to forcibly get into the home.

Once inside, Stevens took the woman’s cellphone and had her and her children get into his vehicle.

Following a 20-minute search, deputies found Stevens, who was taken to a hospital for injuries he suffered while fleeing deputies.

Deputies said they had been attempting to locate Stevens for several days on unrelated domestic-related warrants.
