JACKSONVILLE Fla. – Bond was set for a man accused of robbing a St. Johns County CVS Pharmacy. Nicholas Dungey, 27, appeared before a Duval County judge Saturday morning. He is now facing a possession of heroin with intent to distribute. Bond on that charge was set at $25,000. He also had a bond set of $50,000 for a robbery charge out of St. Johns County.
Dungey is accused of robbing a CVS pharmacy Thursday morning in St. Johns County. He was arrested Friday in Duval County. There is a hold detainer for Dungey, as well.
St. Johns County Deputies said Dungey walked into the CVS on St. Johns Commons Road, off County Road 210 near Interstate 95, about 9 a.m. Thursday and handed a note to the pharmacy techs demanding drugs.
Dungey left on foot with two bags full of drugs and was seen attempting to hitchhike on the highway, deputies said.
They said Dungey was caught at a Jacksonville grocery store Friday with help from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshal's Service.
The note Dungey handed the pharmacy techs said he had a weapon and gave them a list of drugs he wanted, including painkillers, syrups, Xanax and Dilaudid.
"I'm nice and won't hurt you," the note read. "Just hand it over and your car keys and no shots to you.”
Sheriff's Office spokesman Kevin Kelshaw said Dungey told pharmacy staff he wanted liquid codeine and Xanax, so they put it in two bags for him. He could be seen on surveillance video casually walking out of the store with the drugs in hand.
Deputies said that as Dungey left the store, he asked a woman for a ride. When she said no, he walked off, heading east toward Country Road 210 and I-95.
Deputies said they got some leads about Dungey asking for rides in the area of I-95 and CR 210. They received more tips that led them to identify Dungey as a suspect and helped to track him down.
Dungey has been arrested eight times before on charges ranging from drugs to disorderly conduct to auto theft.
