1 dead, 1 injured in Ocala plane crash

Plane went down as it returned to Ocala International Airport

OCALA, Fla, – Ocala Fire Rescue said one person died and a second injured when a small plane crashed Saturday morning near Ocala International Airport.

Firefighters assessed the scene and found two individuals inside the airplane; one person died at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital, officers told WKMG-TV.

Preliminary information suggested the plane encountered problems after departing from the airport and was turned around. I went down just before 9 a.m. on SW 60th Avenue

Airport Operations, Ocala Police Department, Marion County Fire Rescue, and the Marion County Sheriff's Office officials also responded.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration were notified.
