JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two men were sentenced to mandatory life in prison this week for the death of a 58-year-old person, state attorneys said.

Officers arrived at a home on Miss Muffet Lane in April 2013 after the home's alarm had been set off. State attorneys said officers found Barnat Bella, 58, lying on the floor, dead from a single gunshot wound to the back of the head.

The investigation revealed Mackenley Fiacre, 26, and Francis Lai, 28, entered Bella's home during a burglary, state attorneys said. During that time, Bella was fatally shot in the head.

Fiacre and Lai fled through a window, leaving behind their DNA, according to state attorneys.

Fiacre and Lai were found guilty of first-degree murder and armed burglary earlier this month, state attorneys said.
