Two teens are being credited for helping save a home from being destroyed by a fire Saturday morning
JFRD commended the boys for their quick thinking
Thomas Sapp and Edmond Collins say they were riding their bikes Sunday morning on Clyde street in Northwest Jacksonville when they saw a home on fire. They knew they had to do something.
Sapp and Collins searched for a nearby adult to and couldn't find any one. They then jumped into action, banging on the door of the home to make sure no one was inside before calling the Jacksonville Fire Department.
The boys tell News4Jax that, "If there were people we would have helped them out", also adding "That was just the right thing to do. They agreed and said, "We felt like it was just the right thing to do. It feels pretty good. We were just riding around and we did something [good]".
The boys say the homeowners were very thankful for their help. The fire department also told News4Jax if it weren't for their quick thinking, the home could have been destroyed.
