ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A woman who lives in Julington Creek said there has been a rash of car burglaries in the past few days.
News4Jax spoke with Maggie Peterson Friday, who said her car was broken into Thursday night, and her purse and wallet were stolen from inside the car.
Peterson said several items were found scattered around the neighborhood the next morning, and she also found out she wasn’t the only victim.
“I think, right now, there are five or six other people in the neighborhood whose cars were broken into. And mainly, they just took cash, extra change, cards, gift cards. They didn’t take anything to pawn, like GPSs or anything,” Peterson said.
She said her car was locked at the time of the break-in, and she doesn’t know how the burglar got in.
