Correctional officer arrested in Columbia County

LAKE CITY, Fla. – Corrections officer Joshua Teems was arrested Wednesday night and booked into the Columbia County Jail after a Florida Department of Corrections Office investigation into the battery of an inmate.
Corrections' Inspector General had conducted a criminal investigation into a report of that an inmate was beaten and the use-of-force incident was not reported.
No details were provided about the inmate or the incident.
Teems was charged with malicious battery on an image and failure to report a use of force, both misdemeanors. Bon was set at $2,500.
The corrections department acknowledged the cooperation and assistance provided by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office in the investigation and arrest.
