Man wanted in homicide surrenders to SWAT team

Man was in standoff with SWAT officers at mobile home park

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man who had been in a standoff with Jacksonville SWAT officers for nearly two hours surrendered Wednesday about 5:30 p.m.

The man is a suspect in a homicide from February, police said.

The standoff at the New Kings Road Mobile Home Park near Dunn Avenue began about 3:45 p.m., police said.

It ended when the man surrendered to SWAT officers and was taken into custody, police said.

A woman was inside the mobile home with the man during the standoff. No one was injured.

People in the area said police swarmed the area just before 4 p.m.

"I was working. I looked up and all these cops are in the trailer park," said a man who works across the street from the mobile home park.
