JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As Atlanta detectives work to find out who shot and killed Jokisha Brown while she was sitting in her car last week, friends and family remembered the woman who grew up in Jacksonville as Kisha at a vigil Thursday evening.
The candlelight vigil started at 6 p.m. at Friendship Fountain in downtown Jacksonville. Brown's mother requested that white candles and white balloons be brought to the service.
"Kisha, Kisha, we love you," said one family member at the vigil.
According to Brown's close friends, her personality was as magnetic as her smile.
"I worked with Jokisha at a short film called 'Child Support.' She was a very uplifting person, very kind, very sweet, always smiling," said friend Toyale Britton. "She was a good person."
In addition to looking for her killer, Atlanta detectives are looking for a motive.
"I know that she was going through a terrible breakup. And she voiced her opinion about being fearful of her life," Britton said.
The aspiring actress and model would have turned 36 the day after she was killed.
Brown's family has set up a GoFundMe account for contributions to help with her funeral cost.
