Water restored for most Normandy Village Utility customers

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Water was restored to most Normandy Village Utility customers late Wednesday afternoon after an outage lasting nearly 24 hours.

Many residents said water came on just before 4 p.m.

A manager told News4Jax that there had been a small fire that caused the water pumps to stop Tuesday evening.

The utility company said water service was expected to be restored by noon Wednesday, but later pushed back the time to 2 p.m. and later, 3 p.m.

Residents said they were frustrated and every time they called the utility company, the line was busy.

"It's very frustrating. Gotta go to the bathroom and can't go flush. Want to brush your teeth and you can't. It's so hard," said Normandy Village resident Denise Malenfant.

Businesses in the area were also affected by the outage.
