Investigators said Kenneth Gibson, 24, killed Jazzmin Ways, 23, before taking his own life.

According to the Florida Department of Corrections records, Gibson was released from prison in 2014 after serving a four-year sentence on charges of burglary, grand theft and trafficking stolen property.

He was then arrested in 2015 on a battery charge and was sentenced to probation, which was finished in February, Duval County court records show.

The Sheriff's Office continues to investigate.
