2 captured after multi-county chase, deputies say

Man, woman accused of carjacking, kidnapping, fleeing police

ELKTON, Fla. – A man and woman were arrested early Monday morning after a two-county pursuit, St. Johns County deputies said.

The two were identified as Robert Anthony Zaccaro, 24 of Tarpon Springs, and Kaylee Renee Simmons, 18 of Casselberry. Both were booked into the St. Johns County Jail and face additional charges, including carjacking, in Seminole County.

Shortly before 4 a.m. Monday, St. Johns County deputies were advised that Putnam County deputies were pursuing the occupants of a stolen vehicle into St. Johns County.

St. Johns deputies spotted the vehicle as it was traveling eastbound on SR 207 in Hastings and began to pursue. Deputies learned that in addition to the carjacking, the suspects were wanted for kidnapping in Seminole County.

Deputies deployed stop sticks as well as a P.I.T. maneuver in Elkton before the driver stopped and the two were taken into custody.

Zaccaro was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer and driving on a suspended license. He was booked into the County Jail on $19,000 bond.

Simmons was charged with grand theft auto and remains in jail on a $2,500 bond.

Both suspects are also facing charges of carjacking, kidnapping, aggravated assault and battery in Seminole County.
