Police search for SUV after deadly hit-and-run

Patricia Ann Holt, 28, was killed trying to cross New Kings Road

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman was struck and killed late Saturday night on New Kings Road in Northwest Jacksonville -- the fourth pedestrian killed in that area in the past week.

Patricia Ann Holt, 28, was attempting to cross New Kings Road just north of Moncrief Road when she was struck by a vehicle, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. A witness described the vehicle as a blue Acura SUV with damage to the passenger-side mirror.

People who know the road well, like Herbert Johnson, who frequently rides his bike in the area, said they’re sadly not surprised.

“I’ve gotten a couple of skid marks trying to dodge cars,” Johnson said. “Young guys going around speeding.”

The area has seen numerous hit-and-run incidents recently.

Holt’s case is not far from where investigators said George Keene admitted to hitting a woman with his truck and leaving the scene. He was being interviewed by robbery detectives after being arrested for a robbery spree.

Charissa Dionne, the sister of an Orange Park man who recently survived a hit and run, said she’s had enough and fears for her children’s safety.

“I’m a mother of three kids, and these people are still on the road driving,” said. “Multiple hit-and-runs this month and this needs to stop.”

JSO's traffic homicide detectives are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
