GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A bomb threat on the University of Florida campus led to an evacuation and the canceling of some classes Wednesday.
The New Engineering Building on Center Drive was evacuated about 10 a.m. Wednesday and was closed until just after 3 p.m. after an unspecified bomb threat, university officials said in a news release.

Classes in that building were canceled and will resume Thursday.
Staff members found a handwritten note in the women’s restroom on the first floor. The building was immediately evacuated, and the University of Florida Police Department set up a perimeter around the building, officials said.
UF officials said the building underwent an "intense sweep with police officers and K-9s," but the UF Police Department discovered no evidence of anything suspicious and cleared the scene.
Students, faculty and staff have been allowed to re-enter the building.
Law enforcement officials believed the situation was contained and isolated, and that it did not warrant a university-wide UF Alert.
