FHP: 1 critically injured in Northside crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was critically injured in a car accident on the Northside Tuesday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on northbound U.S. 1 just north of Bowie Road around 11:45 a.m.

Larry Burch, 55, was driving his white 1994 Toyota 4Runner northbound on U.S. 1 as a yellow 2005 International 4300 was slowing down to make a U-turn, troopers said.

Burch hit the rear end of the International with the left front of his vehicle, troopers said.

FHP said Burch's 4Runner came to rest across the left and right travel lanes of U.S. 1 northbound and the International on the right shoulder of U.S. 1 southbound.

Burch was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the International was not injured, according to troopers.

The Highway Patrol said charges are pending.
