Gainesville mobile home fire leads to murder-suicide investigation

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A murder-suicide investigation is underway after a body was found Monday afternoon inside a burned mobile home in Gainesville, the Alachua County Sheriff's Office said. 

The Sheriff's Office and Alachua County Fire Rescue responded just before 4 p.m. Monday to the structure fire on Victoria Court.

The first units at the scene found a mobile home 50 percent involved when they arrived, deputies said.

After extinguishing the flames, firefighters found a body, later identified as 19-year-old Aren Nichole Snyder, in the residence, according to the Sheriff's Office. 

Deputies said Snyder had been fatally shot in the head and her husband, 27-year-old Wesley Ryan Smith, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Tuesday morning.
