ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – St. Johns County detectives are investigating after two women and a man stole several expensive handbags from Saks Fifth Avenue at the St. Augustine outlet mall.

Deputies said the three burst into the store Friday afternoon with large black bags and quickly loaded 15 to 20 expensive purses into the bags, as they talked to each other on the phone.

The manager called security, and the thieves ran out the door, deputies said.

The man was confronted by a store patron outside the door, and he dropped two bags and ran off, deputies said. The two women drove away.

The trio got away with several bags, including some Valentino purses that sell for $1,400 apiece.

The sheriff's office is looking at surveillance video of the robbery to see if the three can be identified.
