JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 26-year-old Jacksonville mother was charged with child neglect Sunday after police said she left her daughter home alone for hours.
The girl's age was redacted from the arrest report.

According to the arrest report, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office got a call from a neighbor saying Jasmine Aikens had left her daughter home alone again.
When an officer arrived at the home in Brentwood just before 5 p.m., the girl let him in. She told him Aikens had left the home at 9 a.m., and she didn’t know when she would be back, police said.
The girl was watching cartoons and had plenty of food and water, but the officer noted the place was messy, with soiled diapers strewn all over, according to the report.
When Aikens arrived at home, she was arrested.
Several neighbors told the officer that Aikens leaves the girl alone regularly.
The Department of Children and Families was notified of the case.
