YULEE, Fla. – A countywide crackdown on illegal drugs called "Operation March Sadness" led to 34 arrests, the Nassau County Sheriff's Office announced Monday.
Many of the arrests made over the last several months were on charges of sale of cocaine and methamphetamine as the Narcotics Division conducted numerous drug stings throughout Nassau County, according to the Sheriff's Office.

“The people who were involved in this operation are not your casual drug user,” Sheriff Bill Leeper said. “These are drug dealers and repeat offenders. If we successfully remove the drug dealers and repeat offenders, crime goes down.”
Deputies said a 35th person -- Jared Donnie Brazzell, 40, of Fernandina Beach -- is still wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for the sale of methamphetamine.
During Operation March Sadness, deputies said, 149 pills, 37 grams of cocaine, 87.7 grams of methamphetamine, 375.2 grams of marijuana, $3,077 in cash, three handguns and one shotgun were seized.
“During 2016, 12 people died as a result of drug overdoses in our county, which is a 50 percent increase over 2015,” Leeper said. “People who buy illegal drugs are playing Russian roulette with their lives. They have no idea what the drugs are cut with, or their potential potency.”
The Sheriff's Office asked for the community to continue to help in reducing illegal activity and requested anyone with knowledge about drug dealing to notify the law enforcement agency.
“If you are selling illegal drugs in Nassau County, your next sale could be the one that sends you to jail,” Leeper said.
