Deputies: Safe containing $300K in jewelry stolen from Ponte Vedra Beach home

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – There's a neighborhood crime alert in St. Johns County, where a man said his safe, which contained more than $300,000 in gems and jewelry, was stolen. 

The theft happened Saturday afternoon at a home on Harbour Master Court in Ponte Vedra Beach, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the homeowner left around noon, and when he came back, a window was broken and his safe was gone.

Detectives continue to canvas the area and search for witnesses and surveillance.
