17-year-old shot in Lackawanna neighborhood, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A teenage boy was shot Monday afternoon in Northwest Jacksonville's Lackawanna neighborhood, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. 

Officers responded just after 4:30 p.m. to the shooting near the Hollybrook Homes Apartments on King Street.

Police said they found a 17-year-old boy, who had suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg, walking on the sidewalk. He was taken to UF Health with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Witnesses told News4Jax that they heard some sort of fight outside and then heard gunshots. 

Detectives continue to investigate.
