HASTINGS, Fla. – Deputies are trying to track down the people who illegally dumped nearly a ton of trash in the Hastings area, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
A resident called the Sheriff's Office on Thursday, saying she saw a black Ford F-150 pickup truck, which was hauling a trailer filled with trash, traveling down Division Street near Ruth Avenue. The resident said the pickup truck then came back the other way, and the trailer was empty.
Deputies said they found two piles of trash along the dirt road -- one was a 10-foot pile of about 200 pounds of burned household materials from a house fire and the second pile was about 20 feet long and consisted of 1,500 pounds of construction debris.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 904-824-8304.
