Police: Teen shot in face, seriously injured

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 16-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was shot in the face Friday night in Northwest Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. 

Police said the teen was shot about 6 p.m. on Fernandina Avenue and then ran to his home nearby on Grant Avenue.

The boy was transported to UF Health, where he was in serious but stable condition at last check, police said. 

A third victim had their vehicle hit by gunfire during the incident.

Detectives said it's unknown who shot the teen. The Sheriff's Office continues to investigate.
