No bond for sex offender accussed of removing GPS device Robert Lee Ferrell arrested without incident, police say

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A convicted sex offender wanted by police for removing his GPS tracking device and leaving the area Thursday was arrested on Sunday, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said.
Robert Lee Ferrell, 35, was being sought on suspicion of failing to register as a convicted sex offender and other charges, deputies said.
Ferrell was released from prison June 13, and on June 18 he registered with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office that he was homeless and residing in the woods. As part of his probation, Ferrell was court-ordered to wear a GPS tracking device, but Florida Parole and Probation officials said Ferrell cut off the device at 6 p.m. Tuesday and dumped it in a trash can along U.S. Highway 1 South.
Ferrell was arrested at a home on Rue Landing Road in St. Augustine, officials said. He is charged with one count of tampering with a GPS tracker. He is being held without bond for two parole violations.
Authorities have not said if anyone living in the home will face any charges.
