Former Putnam County sheriff arrested on suspicion of DUI

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – A former Putnam County sheriff was arrested this week on suspicion of DUI, according the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. 

Jeff Hardy was arrested sometime in the late Monday night to early Tuesday morning hours in Ormond Beach, PCSO public information officer Capt. Hancel Woods confirmed to News4Jax on Friday.

The details surrounding his arrest are unclear at this point. His mugshot will not be available because law enforcement is allowed to block its release. 

Hardy was the sheriff during one of the biggest cases in Putnam County: the 2009 disappearance of Haleigh Cummings.

He served as Putnam County sheriff for two terms and left office in January. Hardy was succeeded by current Sheriff Gator DeLoach.
