Florida man tried to kidnap, sexually assaulted another man, police say

Victim defended himself by biting attacker in sensitive spot, say police

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville man faces attempted kidnapping and sexual battery charges after police said he grabbed another man and forced him to perform oral sex.

The victim told police Monday that Marquez Lemonte Edwards, 18, sexually battered him on Sunday between 8:15 p.m. and 8:50 p.m. in the apartment complex, according to the police report.

The victim told police that Edwards saw him in the complex and called him over, asking questions regarding his sexuality, the report said.

Police said that when the victim tried to walk away, Edwards allegedly grabbed him by the back of his neck and took him to a wooded area. There, police said he sexually assaulted the victim, threatening he would stab him if he didn't do what he said.

According to the report, Edwards forced the victim to give him oral sex. The victim defended himself by biting down on Edwards.

The victim told police he knew of Marquez and has seen him in the apartment complex, but never interacted with him. The victim's brother led police to Marquez's apartment, where the 18-year-old was detained, according to the police report.

Marquez faces charges of kidnapping/commit or facilitate the commission of any felony and sexual battery (threats or injury).
