JSO: 1 injured in crash involving police cruiser in Southside Estates

Officer unhurt in crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One person was injured in a crash involving a police cruiser and another vehicle early Monday night in the Southside Estates neighborhood, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

It happened about 5:20 p.m. at the intersection of Peach Drive and Leahy Road, just north of Beach Boulevard.

Police said the driver of the second vehicle was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The officer was not injured and there were no passengers in either car.

Investigators said it's unknown if weather was a factor in the crash. 

Traffic homicide detectives will be investigating, which is standard procedure in an officer-involved crash.
