PALATKA, Fla. – A dispute turned violent Monday morning when two people were shot, one of them fatally, outside an East Palatka home, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies answering a shooting call about 10 a.m. on Margarita Road near Federal Point Road found 60-year-old Patrick James Nolan dead and his brother, 59-year-old Michael Francis Nolan, seriously wounded, the Sheriff's Office said.

Michael Nolan was taken to UF Health Shands in Gainesville, where he was listed in stable condition at last check, the Sheriff's Office said Tuesday afternoon.

Sheriff Gator DeLoach said it appears the two victims showed up at a home on Margarita Road. At some point, he said, a man who lives there shot both victims and then left the scene.

Authorities later intercepted the suspected shooter, 60-year-old Charles Edward Price, crossing into St. Johns County. Price is charged with first-degree homicide and attempted first-degree homicide.

Deputies told News4Jax on Tuesday that Price and Michael Nolan were roommates, but it's still uncertain what the dispute was about.
