Man killed in 1 of 4 shootings reported within 4 hours
At 1 scene, 4 people, including 2 children, were in home where man was shot
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office were sent to investigate four separate shootings Tuesday night, including a man who was fatally shot in Jacksonville's Panama Park neighborhood.
At about 10 p.m., officers were called to East 44th Street, where a man was found lying in the street. According to Sgt. Vorphal, the man had been shot and died from his injury.
It's unclear exactly how old the victim was, and he was not identified. Officers were canvassing the area for witnesses.
In a second shooting, investigators were sent to the intersection of Owen Avenue and Plum Streets.
According to Lt. Pellot with the Sheriff's Office, investigators arrived at the scene at about 6:50 p.m.
Pellot said a man was shot in the face, and it's believed he was taken to a hospital by a witness. The man's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Officers believe the shooting occurred outside.
A third shooting was being investigated near the intersection of Grunthal and West State streets in the New Town neighborhood at about 7:10 p.m.
According to Lt. Gay with the Sheriff's Office, a man was struck in the shoulder by a bullet that was fired into a home. Gay said two children and two adults were in the home at the time of the shooting. The man was the only person hospitalized, and his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Several people were seen running from the scene at the time of the shooting. It's unclear if they were involved.
A fourth shooting was under investigation on West Lincoln Court. Officers said a 16-year old was shot in the arm at the Roosevelt Gardens apartment complex just north of UF Health.
There were no suspect descriptions in any of the four shootings and officers said there were no signs the shootings were related.
