ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is working to identify a woman whose body was found Monday morning in the Intracoastal Waterway.
Deputies were called to the waterway near The Riverview Club by St. Augustine Shores around 8:30 a.m. St. John's County Fire Rescue launched a vessel into the water and found the body drifting in the waterway.
The woman is described as a black female, with an age range in her late teens to late 20s. She is about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 140 pounds with a tattoo of a rose on her upper right thigh.
At this time, deputies have received no reports of missing persons, or significant events in the area that might help to identify the woman.
Anyone with any information regarding a person who matches these descriptors is asked to contact the St. John's County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit.
No cause or manner of death is currently known. That information is pending an autopsy by the Medical Examiner's Office.
