Man convicted of shooting former co-worker

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was convicted of attempted murder for a shooting at the Golden Ox Liquor Store in Argyle Forest in 2009.

Rakesh Patel, 45, went to the store in September 2009 and attempted to kill a former co-worker at the liquor store, according to the State Attorney’s Office.  A

Patel shot the victim because he mistakenly believed the man was having an affair with his wife, according to the State Attorney’s Office.  The defendant told police upon arrest, “the guy had torn apart other families and he had to put a stop to it.”

Patel faces 25 years to life in Florida State Prison.  He will be sentenced the week of May 13, 2013.
