JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A broken water main in the South Metro area blocked traffic on Philips Highway near Emerson Street for hours Friday.
According to the Florida Department of Transportation and JEA, crews made repairs throughout the morning. As a result, the southbound lanes of Philips Highway, near Emerson was blocked.

The lanes were expected to reopen about 7 p.m.
Drivers were encouraged to seek an alternate route.
