2 men charged in shooting of woman, good Samaritan

Terry Dawson, Muhammad Benbenu charged

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – Two men have been arrested and charged in the Oct. 26 shooting of a woman and a good Samaritan in Orange Park.

Terry Dawson, 19, and Muhammad Benbenu, 18, were both charged, Dawson with attempted murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery and shooting into a house. Benbenu was charged with armed robbery. Both were held with no bond.

Investigators said a car filled with people from Jacksonville drove through the Park West subdivision off Blanding Boulevard, tucked behind Orange Park High School, when a person in the car opened fire on a woman, who got out of the car and ran for help.

The gunman followed and opened fire again, hitting a man who had opened his door to the woman.

Bruce Kravcov said he moved from New Jersey to Park West on Friday, the day after the shooting, which he heard about on the news.

Kravcov said his daughter was home the morning after. Kravcov said the shootings don’t make him question moving there, but that he wants whoever’s responsible to be held accountable.

“Well, I’m hoping that someone comes forward, you know? You want to feel safe where you live,” Kravcov said.

Deputies interviewed the woman who was shot but she said she only knew the other people in the car by their nicknames.

News4Jax went by the good Samaritan’s house Monday to see how he’s doing, but no one answered.
