MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A man who is accused of committing a home invasion while leaving a 3-year-old in his car was arrested early Monday.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to 75 Silver Lane in Ocala after five people inside the home said a Hispanic man covered in tattoos and wearing a bandana over his face broke into their home, stole an Xbox, Wii, PlayStation 3 and video games and pistol-whipped one of the victims, causing minor injuries.

Deputies on their way to the home performed a traffic stop on a vehicle with a headlight out that was driving away from the location of the home invasion.

Deputies said during the traffic stop, they discovered the driver matched the description of the robber, and an Xbox matching the description of the one stolen was visible on the back seat of the car. The Sheriff's Office said a 3-year-old child was in the vehicle.

The suspect, who was identified as Kareem Jamel Mutcherson, 23, denied committing the robbery, but two of the victims positively identified him as the robber.

Deputies said the child in the car was released to family members.

Mutcherson is charged with robbery-home invasion with a firearm, aggravated battery on a person 65 years or older, possession of marijuana and driving while license suspended or revoked.
