Police: Man stabbed to death in Jacksonville home invasion

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was stabbed to death while his roommate was tied up in another room during a Monday morning home invasion on the Westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Officers were called to the home on Carder Street near Lake Shore Boulevard shortly before 7 a.m., after the roommate found the victim bloodied and unresponsive, the Sheriff's Office said.

The victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene. He's described as being between the ages of 25 and 30.

Homicide Sgt. Steve Rudlaff said the victim's roommate was cooperative. He told police a man showed up at their door, then forced his way inside and tied him up in a back bedroom. He said he heard a commotion, but the intruder was gone by the time he broke free.

The sergeant could not provide a description of the suspect, saying investigators still needed to learn more details from the victim's roommate.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at (904) 630-0500. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (866) 845-TIPS.
