JEA Repairs Broken Water Main On San Jose

Intermittent Road Closures Expected Wednesday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – JEA water construction crews have completed the repair to a 24-inch water main pipe that was ruptured Monday, causing San Jose Boulevard to be closed for hours.

JEA said crews were working with the goal of having two northbound lanes of San Jose between Old St. Augustine and Beauclerc roads open by Wednesday morning. The two southbound lanes have been open since Monday afternoon.

All lanes should be open to afternoon rush-hour traffic Wednesday, Boyce said.

She said JEA continues to investigate the water main break and that it appears multiple factors and parties played a role.

On Monday, JEA said a contractor struck the pipe that was at a depth of about 10-12 feet underground.

About 250 homes and businesses were affected by the water main break.

A boil-water advisory was issued for the San Jose Boulevard area between Sunbeam and Kori roads Monday afternoon that mostly affected businesses.
