JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are searching for two men after a Chinese food delivery driver was shot Monday afternoon at a Westside apartment complex, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

It happened about 4 p.m. at the Camelot Gardens apartments on Lane Avenue, just south of Park Street.

According to the incident report, a man told police he was delivering Chinese food to an apartment when two young men tried to pull him into the apartment and, during the struggle, he was shot in the leg. Police said the man was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was reportedly in stable condition at last check.

The victim told police that the two other men ran off toward Lane Avenue after the shooting, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said a purple and black handgun was located outside the apartment door. They said they also found a spent shell casing and a bag of undelivered Chinese food lying on the ground near the door.

According to the police report, the property managers told officers that the apartment that the man was delivering food to was a vacant unit.

Robbery detectives were called to investigate, but it’s unclear whether anything was taken from the victim.
