A power outage occurred as a result. JEA was working to address the issue.

While the cause of the crash is under investigation, Buoye took a moment to remind everyone in Jacksonville to drive safe, saying that Friday was his 14th day as commanding officer of the JSO Traffic Homicide Unit.

“And I’ve been called out almost 10 times in 14 days,” Buoye said.

He further noted that Friday was the 113th day of 2021. He said that so far, 69 people have died this year on roads in Jacksonville.

“Please be careful,” Buoye said. “And, and let’s keep our thoughts and prayers with this young girl’s family.”
