Jacksonville police: Missing 82-year-old man located

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A missing 82-year-old man at the center of a search on the city’s Northside was found, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said Monday afternoon.

The Sheriff’s Office first asked for the public’s help locating the man shortly before 10 a.m. Monday. Police said the man was reported missing after walking off from his home near the intersection of Lem Turner Road and Rowe Avenue.

There was an active search with the JSO helicopter, K-9s teams and the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

About 1 p.m. Monday, the Sheriff’s Office announced the man was found safe. But JFRD told News4JAX that the man was located at West 35th and Pearce streets, received a medical check and was then taken to a hospital for further evaluation.
