JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Larry Tould, 19, was found dead on Ken Knight Drive in January 2021, as dozens of people scattered as the result of gunfire at an arranged fight.

News4JAX has obtained supplemental reports that indicate Tould was accidentally shot during the confrontation, then run over by a 15-year-old girl who was trying to get away after her car was also hit by gunfire.

The medical examiner found that Tould had been shot several times, but couldn’t determine if it was the gunshots or the severe injuries from getting run over by the car that killed him.

Investigators determined that two girls had been feuding on Instagram, had fought earlier that day at a park and then arranged to meet for another fight. As word spread on social media, a crowd of more than 30 people gathered.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office had multiple and conflicting witness accounts, but several people said that as the two girls’ friends approached each other, Tould ran toward a young man standing next to a silver car. At the same time, another teen started shooting, apparently at the car, which was hit three times. Tould was also hit, and as he collapsed in the road, the 15-year-old driver took off, running him over.

Given the inconclusive evidence and the conflicting statements, the state attorney’s office declined to file murder charges in the case.

The 15-year-old old driver was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury, and is now in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice. The teen who fired the shots was charged with possession of a firearm by a juvenile.
