Video shows pickup truck driver firing gun in Murray Hill neighborhood

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Video shared with News4JAX shows the driver of a white pickup truck pulling up to a red light at an intersection in Jacksonville’s Murray Hill neighborhood and firing a gun out the window.

The person who shared the video said it happened shortly after 1:30 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Post and Hamilton streets. What prompted the act is unclear.

In the video, two muzzle flashes from the handgun that is fired by the driver are visible. The gun appears to be fired in the direction of a home on the corner.

At first glance, it appears the home might have been hit, but dust can also be seen flying up from the ground, suggesting a mound of dirt and bushes in the front yard might have been struck.

The resident who sent us the video said he heard the gunshots and then checked his security camera.

“I came out and looked at the fence. There are no holes in the fence or the house next door,” the man said. “He kind of shot behind my house and the neighbor’s house. All I can think now after looking at the video a few times is that he shot into the ground. It’s kind of high over here. So, I think he probably had a pistol in his seat, a new gun, maybe. Maybe he’s a little drunk or high and he decided to shoot a couple of rounds.”

No injuries were reported. It was difficult to make out the license plate on the truck.

If you have any information, the homeowner would appreciate you report it to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
