Man shot in torso in Southside apartment parking lot after dispute with friends, family

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A large police presence was spotted Sunday evening at the Florida Club at Deerwood Apartments. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was called to the complex around 7 p.m. in response to a man in his 30s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The man was transported to the hospital for surgery with non-life-threatening injuries. Witnesses said there was a dispute between friends and family in the parking lot, which led to the man getting shot in the torso, according to JSO.

It is unclear what the dispute was about, but officers are working with witnesses to learn more information.

JSO said the shooter remained at the scene and was detained for an interview. JSO also said two guns were taken from the shooter.

Officers are interviewing multiple witnesses and reviewing surrounding surveillance footage.

As JSO continues to investigate and depending on what officers learn, they will determine if charges will be filed against the shooter.
