2 decomposing bodies found inside Panama Park home

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man and woman were found dead inside a home, in late stages of decomposition, on February 7. They also found a deceased dog wrapped in a blanket next to the woman’s bed.

According to the police report, JSO found a 63-year-old man lying on a bed with trauma to the side of his head. A woman was found dead in another bed, partially covered by a blanket.

This was the result of a welfare check to the home on East 61st Street in the Panama Park neighborhood. On the front door, officers found an eviction notice dated Jan. 30, 2023.

JSO’s report lists the man’s death as a murder, and says “the case has been exceptionally closed due to the death of the offender.” News4JAX asked if this was a murder/suicide. We are waiting to hear back.
