Landmark Arlington nightclub Jim’s Place closing after 33 years
Jim Jones III, the owner of the Jim’s Place nightclub at 7900 Arlington Expressway, is retiring and closing the club for good. Its last day will be Dec. 31. (Dan Macdonald/Jacksonville Daily Record)
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jim’s Place, an Arlington nightclub and landmark for 33 years, will close on Jan. 1, according to the Jacksonville Daily Record, a News4JAX news partner .
Jim Jones III, 78, decided to close the business and sell the property due to health reasons.
He has had two bouts of cancer since 2000 and has endured two strokes in recent years. The former U.S. Army drill instructor and recruiter for AT&T has decided it is time to quit the grind of operating a nightclub.
