JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was found fatally shot late Thursday night outside his duplex on Spearing Street near A. Philip Randolph Park on Jacksonville’s Eastside, police said.

Investigators are still looking for the shooter and do not have a description of them.

Around 11:20 p.m. Thursday, a neighbor found the man who’d been shot lying unresponsive on the ground outside the duplex in a common area, which is a walkway/open area leading up to the duplex with a metal fence surrounding it.

Several shell casings were found on the ground, and investigators said the man was shot several times. They haven’t released his name but said he was in his early 20s.

Police said there was a ShotSpotter alert within an hour of the 911 call, but it’s unclear if that was related to the duplex shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or CrimeStoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
